General Information

Can't see the forest for the trees? Searching for the tree of knowledge? Then enroll as an international student in the Faculty of Regional Studies (FOREST) at Gifu University. FOREST is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of cross-disciplinary scholars and global citizens who are capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st century by applying their broad expertise to a rapidly changing transglobal world.

Inaugurated in October 1996, FOREST will be accepting students for enrollment in April 1997 and is actively seeking applications from overseas students. Its main educational and research focus is to provide education in the theory and practice of regional development, focusing on regional topics and problems encompassing all geographical areas from the perspectives of the natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities. The cross-disciplinary curriculum is designed to develop in students the depth and breadth of insight in their analysis of regional issues along with the requisite skills that will enable them to play an instrumental role in dealing with issues concerning the well-being of their communities at all levels.
